What is NAEYC Accreditation?

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is the largest organization of early childhood education educators in the United States. NAEYC sets child care standards of excellence in the areas of safety, health, classroom environment, learning programs communication, and staff qualifications.

NAEYC accreditation is not easy. Only child care centers that meet the quality standards can be accredited by NAEYC. It takes months of study, preparation and implementation to achieve this status. Of the more than 80,000 child care centers operating in the United States, only about 7% have earned this accreditation. A program is not accredited by NAEYC until it has successfully completed the entire accreditation process, including an on-site visit and subsequent reviews by NAEYC to determine whether a particular center has achieved accreditation status.
